WHO WE ARE
Following on from our introduction on the “I’m new here” page, we’d like to tell you a bit more about who we are, our story, and what we are about…
WHAT KIND OF A CHURCH ARE WE?
If you asked: “What kind of church is Every Nation London?”, the answer is that we are simply a Christian church. We want to be a church as described in the New Testament – the church Jesus says he is building to fulfil his purposes in the earth today. We are a people on a journey to be that by God’s grace. In all we do, our mission is simply to make disciples.
Why do we exist?
One of the things you’ll hear us say quite often around here is that “Every Nation London exists to glorify God by making disciples and making a difference.”
To us that means that when the dust has settled on all that we have done, we want God to be glorified, we want to have grown as disciples and helped others grow, and we want to have done good works that glorify our heavenly Father.
“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
A disciple is simply someone who is following Jesus to become more like him, and we want you to know that as a church we are committed to helping you grow into all God has created and called you to be. Our core course to help you with this is THE FOLLOW COURSE.
Key areas we are called to
We believe that every church has a unique field or fields that God calls them to work in, and for us as a church we are very clear that these are:
- Campus Ministry
- Community Transformation
- City Influence
- and Church Planting – in the nations, primarily western Europe.
You can read more about each of these in the “Making a Difference” section of the website.
Every Nation London was started when Wolfi and Alison Eckleben responded to what they sensed as “God’s call to the nations”. This resulted in them being sent out from the His People church in Cape Town, South Africa, to start the work in London.
Having never been to London before, and knowing no-one, they arrived at Heathrow Airport on 4 September 1993 with their two backpacks and a vision. A great adventure was just beginning.
After a very difficult and seemingly unfruitful first year, there was a breakthrough, and the church has been growing ever since. Since then thousands of people from all over the world have been a part of this church and have had their lives significantly changed. Some have stayed in London for a few months, some for many years, but what continues today is the fruit of all those who have made a difference with their time, talents and treasures.
In 2004 the church name was changed from “His People” to “Every Nation”. This was for practical and prophetic reasons, and identifies us more clearly with our Every Nation family of churches and ministries around the world.
The change has ushered in a new season of people. People from many different nations having joined the church, with as many as 40 different nations now represented. To date from our first congregation in London we have planted churches in:
- China (exact location withheld)
- Dublin, Ireland (2002)
- Stratford, east London (2003)
- Madrid, Spain (2009)
- Slough, west of London (2009)
- Hammersmith 6pm, west London (2009)
- Gent, Belgium (2010)
- Our latest current (2014/15) church plant, our first “grandchild church” via Dublin, is in Belfast, Northern Ireland
In 2013 we celebrated our 20 year anniversary of church in London. The picture of the London skyline made up of over 1,000 different faces of some of the amazing people that have been a part of this great adventure.
Every Nation London is part of the global Every Nation family of churches and ministries. It exists so that “God is honoured; the Gospel is preached; disciples are made; Christ-centred, Spirit-empowered and socially responsible churches are established; and the kingdom of God is advanced in every nation”.
Every Nation has churches and campus ministries in over 70 of the 196 nations of the world. Pastor Wolfi and Ali, and the London church play a significant role in the leadership of the European churches.

We are members of the Evangelical Alliance of the UK. We highly value honouring Christ in the local community, and work together with a large number of churches across different denominations. We also work with secular organisations on any projects where we find a common cause.
